AAR Advances Asian Strategy with Key Partnership and Contract Renewal

AAR Corp. has announced two significant operational developments within a 48-hour period, signaling a focused push to strengthen its position in the aviation aftermarket. The moves center on expanding its maintenance footprint in Asia and securing a vital distribution channel.

Financial Stake and Upcoming Report

Investor attention is now turning to the company’s upcoming financial results. AAR is scheduled to release its Q2 FY2026 earnings report after the market closes on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. A conference call to discuss the results will follow at 4:00 PM Central Time.

Notably, institutional investor Gabelli Funds substantially increased its stake in the company during the second quarter, boosting its position by 57.7% to approximately 78,169 shares.

Exclusive Distribution Agreement Extended

In a separate but strategically important move, AAR has renewed a multi-year, exclusive global distribution agreement with Collins Aerospace. The pact covers Goodrich ice protection and specialty systems. Frank Landrio, AAR’s Senior Vice President of Distribution, noted that this product line has demonstrated “tremendous growth.” Contracts of this nature provide stability to the company’s aftermarket revenue base and enhance forward visibility for sales and margins within the Parts Supply division.

New Joint Venture Established in Thailand

The company has finalized a joint venture with AFI KLM E&M, named xCelle Asia, following the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals. The new facility will be located in Chonburi, Thailand.

This partnership is designed to perform Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services on nacelles for several modern engine types, including the GEnx, Trent 1000, and LEAP-1A/1B. By combining AAR’s logistical capabilities with the technical expertise of AFI KLM E&M, the venture aims to capture market share in the high-growth Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and reduce turnaround times for airlines based in Asia.

Market Perspective and Focus Areas

According to analysis from RBC Capital Markets, AAR has reaffirmed its growth targets and is aiming for margin expansion, even as the company continues its search for a permanent Chief Financial Officer. The immediate focus for analysts will be whether these operational initiatives are beginning to translate into financial performance.

The earnings report on January 6, 2026, is expected to shed light on three key areas: initial revenue contributions from the new joint venture, an update on the CFO search, and margin progression within the Expeditionary Services segment. The current analyst consensus price target for AAR stock stands at $91.00. The shares recently traded near $80, within a 52-week range of $46.51 to $89.69.
