Deadpool busts out a good ol’ fashioned Three Stooges style eye poke in this issue. As a Stooges fan, I enjoyed that.

I wonder what the creators of Lady Deathstrike think about her being used as what is essentially a babysitter for a giant symbiote dog…

Only seven issues in, I’m finding I’m already rather protective of Wade’s relationship with Valentine Vuong. If she backstabs him, I’m going to be inconsolable.

There’s a point in this issue where Valentine Vuong tells Deadpool, “I was chopping…broccoli.” Is that meant to be a Dana Carvey reference? As in old school Saturday Night Live? Probably not, right? But if it is, this book just gained major points with me.

There’s also a panel where, talking to his petsitter, Wade asks, “Has my little princess pooped yet today?” That’s such a pet-owner thing to say that I nearly laughed out loud.

In addition, we learn in this issue that Deadpool is a Taylor Swift fan. Seems about right, doesn’t it?

One of the villains in this issue calls the Deadpool/Valentine Vuong romance “sickeningly sweet.” That’s a pretty apt description, in my book.

Case in point, this issue is filled with blood and gore, mostly courtesy of yet another symbiote popping out of our titular hero. But then later in the issue, Valentine calls Wade their boyfriend. Even my cynical self couldn’t help but go, “Aww.”

This is also a particularly quotable issue. Chuckles all around.

The more I see of this Valentine Vuong character, the more I like them as a romantic partner for Deadpool. THey seems to have a quiet insanity that matches up well with his loud insanity.

There’s a lot of disemboweling going on in this book, thus far. I wonder if that’s fun for Martin Coccolo to draw…

Cool cover. Great action shot for Lady Deathstrike. This book’s cover game has been pretty strong from the start.
